Mr. Gonzalez came to Rescue Outreach Mission from a rehabilitation center. Mr. Gonzalez has battled substance abuse since he was 17 years old. His life was spiraling out of control. He became homeless as a result of alcohol abuse, substance abuse and depression.
As a Rescue Outreach Mission Resident, Mr. Gonzalez now accepts responsibility and accountability for his actions. His focus is on the path to recovery and self-sufficiency. Counseling and case management have assisted Mr. Gonzalez to see that his life has purpose. Rescue Case Management has assisted Mr. Gonzalez to set goals to further his education and develop a career path. “I thank the Rescue Outreach Mission and my family for their support and not giving up on me. For the first time, I began to feel like there was hope” says Gonzalez.
Mr. Gonzalez has successfully completed the Goodwill Job Club Program and is currently enrolled into the Goodwill Homeless Services Network Employment Program. He is now employed and working at McDonald’s. He is also enrolled in the GED Program at Seminole State College. He is scheduled to graduate with a Graduate Equivalent Diploma. The path to self-sufficient living is taking one step at a time.
